Every day I use Facebook every other minute of the day, but did you know that when you post your photos of you and your friends, Facebook NOW owns them? Its deceiving since no one ever reads the agreement page. We all just accept and start our page, thinking what we post are private. Well you are wrong, so wrong in fact.
Facebook has said in their agreement that they own anything posted on their site, what people also don’t realize is that Facebook is legally able to sell your photos to advertisement companies. So one day you might be on the Internet and see your face plastered on a dating website ad, and have no idea.
If you have free time Google your name in images search, don’t be too surprised to see your face there too, as your photos on Facebook connect to Google images and anyone can see. You are not safe. It’s also been said that employers have turned down people interviewing based on their content on social media sites.
Back in Tom Brennan’s class, there was a very interesting presentation done by Faith Cassleman and Hayden Murphy. It was one that caught my attention and got me thinking. They talked about how everything you post is legally on the internet. The classes’ response was amazing, as no one knew of this. Hayden also mentioned that he knew of someone who was fire because of what they had posted on Facebook.
Maybe this is a warning to all young adults that you should ask yourself; would you want your mom and dad to see this? Would future employers turn you down based on your content? Do you think what is on Facebook page is appropriate? If you said no to most or all of these, you should reevaluate what you have posted on social media.
You might one day want to edit and review your page and ask yourself; would you want your mom and dad to see this?, would future employers hire me bases on my content?, do I think what is on Facebook is appropriate? If you said no to most of these or all, you should reevaluate what you have posted on social media.
Be careful, it might just be the difference of you succeeding or failing. So here is a tip; if you think it’s not appropriate it’s most likely not.
